How to Import / Export Firefox Bookmarks

Many browsers allow you to import or export your bookmarks (aka favourites). This is really helpful if you are changing your default browser, and want all your bookmarks in the new browser.

Firefox has one of the most powerful and the easiest bookmarks manager. It’s very easy to organize your bookmarks in folders and sub-folders. It also has a built-in import/export feature for bookmarks. In this post I’ll tell you how you can backup Firefox bookmarks, and restore them whenever and wherever needed.

By default Firefox backs up your bookmarks daily. They can be found at

Then go to: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile name\bookmarkbackups

How to export Firefox bookmarks

Go to Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks… (Firefox’s Bookmarks Manager opens)

Now go to File > Export. Choose a location to save the bookmarks file, enter the file’s name and click Save.

Done! Now you can use that file at any place that allows you to import bookmarks through a HTML file.

How to import Firefox bookmarks

Now, I’ll tell you how to import bookmarks into your Firefox.

Go to Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks… (Firefox’s Bookmarks Manager opens)

Now go to File > Import. Choose a From File, choose the file and click Open.

Here you go! All your bookmarks have been safely imported.
